Section 164: Prohibition of serfdom or debt bonded labour

1) No person shall subject any one to, or hold any one in, serfdom or debt bonded labour for any kind of consideration or employ any one in the status of serfdom or bonded labour, or subject, or cause to be subjected, him or her to any other kind of treatment similar thereto.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term from three to seven years and a fine from thirty thousand to one hundred thousand rupees.
