Section 116: Prohibition of reckless conduct with respect to animals and birds

1) No person shall, in keeping or caring and cultivating any violent or other animal or bird of him or her or under his or her control or custody, knowingly or recklessly omits to take such precautionary measure with that animal or bird as is necessary to guard against or prevent any probable danger to cause death of or grievous hurt to any one from such act or from such animal or bird.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or a fine not exceeding ten thousand rupees or both the sentences.
