Section 108: Prohibition of selling, distributing food by misrepresentation

1) No person shall sell or distribute any food, lying or misrepresenting that it is a different food or that a food which is of low quality or inedible is a food of high quality, or mixing any food substance of low standard or inedible food substance into any food substance of high quality.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or a fine not exceeding fifty thousand rupees or both the sentences.
