Section 177: Prohibition of doing act with the intention of causing death (homicide)

1) No person shall intentionally kill, or do homicide, or cause to be done, any act causing the death of another person.

Explanation: For the purposes of this Section, even if a person intentionally causes such serious bodily injury or hurt to another person as is likely to cause the death of that other person but that person does not die immediately but dies subsequently in consequence of that injury or hurt, the person shall be considered to have killed that other person.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to the sentence of imprisonment for life.
