Section 81: Prohibition of making false statement by person under oath

1) A person who is bound by law or by an oath to state the truth on any subject to any competent authority or is a public office holder upon taking an oath under law shall not, in that capacity, state any false statement.

2) A person who commits the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding twenty thousand rupees or both the sentences.
