Section 111: Prohibition of fouling water

1) No person shall foul the water to be consumed by the public or the water of any public spring so as to render it unfit for drinking or foul the water to be used for any purpose other than drinking so as to render it unfit for that purpose.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to the sentence as follows:

(a) Imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or a fine not exceeding thirty thousand rupees or both the sentences, in the case of a person who fouls, or causes to be fouled, drinking water or its spring,

(b) Imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or a fine not exceeding five thousand rupees or both the sentences, in the case of a person who fouls, or causes to be fouled, water to be used for other purposes.
