Section 101: Prohibition of obstructing apprehension or escaping from custody

1) No person for whose apprehension an arrest warrant has been issued shall knowingly make any obstruction, by using force, in the course of apprehension or to the apprehension of himself or herself or to escape from apprehension if already apprehended or no person who is lawfully detained in custody shall escape or attempt to escape from such custody.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or a fine not exceeding thirty thousand rupees or both the sentences.
