Section 102: Prohibition of obstructing apprehension or rescuing from custody

1) No person shall intentionally make obstruction in the course of apprehension of or to the apprehension of any other person for whose apprehension an arrest warrant has been issued in accordance with law or rescue such other person from apprehension if already apprehended or intentionally escape or aid in the escape of a person who is lawfully detained in custody from such custody.

2) A person who commits, or causes to be committed, the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or a fine not exceeding thirty thousand rupees or both the sentences.

3) If any public servant commits or causes to be committed the offence referred to in sub-section (1), he or she shall be liable to double the sentence specified in sub-section (2).
