Section 299: Prohibition of deceitfully making telephone calls or transmitting messages

1) No person shall deceitfully make, or cause to be made, any telephone call or transmit any message, whether giving his or her identity or not, with the intention of avoiding, deceiving, annoying or troubling another person.

2) A person who commits the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding twenty thousand rupees or both the sentences.
