Section 201: Prohibition of holding in detention without providing minimum humane facilities

1) No authority who is competent by law to make detention shall detain, or cause to be detained, any person by depriving him or her of such facilities as required to be provided in accordance with law or of such minimum humane facilities as are available in the place of his or her detention.

2) A person who commits the offence referred to in sub-section (1) shall be liable to a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding one and half years and a fine not exceeding fifteen thousand rupees.
