Section 38: Tax Officers to be Punished

If the Director General decides that a tax assessment was so made maliciously or negligently so that the tax amount was reduced or increased, he/she shall initiate a Departmental action against the assessing Tax Officer in accordance with the law related with his/her conditions of service.

Provided that, a reasonable opportunity shall be given to the Tax Officer to submit his/her clarification.
